On Saturday 2 June the bike season starts at Špičák. We have been working on the tracks for almost two months and on all of them bigger or smaller modifications have been done. Innovations of this year are a brand new Jump Park, which offers a jump line for both the beginners and the experts and a new Big Air Bag for jumps practice.
The Bikepark Špičák has prepared a fourcross race on Saturday 26 August 2017. The first night of this discipline at Špičák should be even more attractive since it takes place on the lit piste Spodní Šance. The beginning of the first rounds is at 7 pm and the final rounds begin at 9 pm. No licence is needed to participate. Everyone, who wants to try the first 4X at Špičák and feels up to it, can join the race.
On Saturday June 3 the bike season starts at Špičák. We have been working on the tracks for over a month. On the tracks Black Friday and Forest Virgin there have been done both bigger and smaller modifications. An extensive reconstruction has been carried out on the most demanding black track Struggle, where a few new parts have been added. We have been also working on the increase of flow and we have added a few great jumps. The track Lucky Bastard, which was new last year, has been in a top condition since then.
On the slopes of the ski resort there is leftover snow but the preparations for the summer season are already running. We are doing the maintenance of the chairlift, reconstruction of the tracks in the bike park and we prepare the rental and the store. These are three main tasks to be done before the beginning of the operation. In the first two weeks in June the resort will be open just at the weekends, afterwards there will be daily operation until the middle of September and then only at the weekends until the end of October. The main event of the summer season will be the traditional downhill race IXS European Downhill Cup. Other events are for instance a race of the Enduro series and The Day with CHKO Šumava. All events can be found here. Apart from the bike park and the lookout tower especially the youngest visitors will have the opportunity to use the footpath In the feet of the hare and children´s ski playground with summer tubing and mini bike park.
The summer operation of the chairlift will be aborted because of power cuts (caused by the power distributor) at the turn of August and September. A daylong shutdown will be on Wednesday 31 August, Friday 2 September and then Friday 9 September. On those days the sport resort Ski&bike Špičák will be completely out of operation.
Thank you for your understanding.
At the beginning of the holidays the most significant race of the Czech downhill community is coming back to Špičák – iXS European Downhill Cup. In Šumava there will meet European downhill top riders from July 1 to July 3. The race takes place on the track Struggle, which is marked by the black colour. Its length is 1750m. The riders from 26 countries will fight in the final round on Sunday at 12:30 for the best positions. The total prize money of the race will be 5.945€.
The summer season at the resort of Špičák began on 4 June. Since 11 June the chairlift and the bikepark are open every day from 9 am to 5 pm. What is more, on Friday and Saturday we add one more hour, which means that the last run up of the chairlift is at 6 pm.
The look-out tower on the peak has been open since June 11 as well. For children there has been prepared a footpath “In the Footsteps of the Hare“, which brings you to Devils Lake. After that, this 3 km long, funny and educational footpath brings you back to the valley station of the chairlift.
In the bikepark Špičák it is going to be busy on Saturday 4 June. The biker´s season starts and you can look forward to a plenty of improvements. What is probably not surprising, are perfectly shaped tracks. What cannot be ignored by anybody is a brand new track called Lucky Bastard. It is a follow up of the drop over the little Cottage, which was built in the upper part of the bikepark last year. This new section, where there are lots of jumps, drops, berms and wallride, is approximately 1 kilometre long and it offers a lot of fun.
Before the beginning of the season we have worked on the tracks a lot. Apart from cleaning and adjusting the tracks, there have been built some new things on the connecting part of the track Virgin Forest with the name Lucky Bastard. A few new hurdles have been prepared in the upper part of the bikepark. This part will probably be suitable for experienced bikers who should really enjoy it. Next weekend you can try the improvements on Saturday 4 June at Bikepark Opening.
The summer season in Špičák is going to be enriched by a lot of events this year. Because Špičák is a sport centre, sport events should dominate. Nevertheless, we will not forget about culture and education, too. Apart from the traditional events, for example Bikepark opening (June 4) or iXS European Downhill Cup (1 – 3 July,) which is going to return to Špičák for the seventh time, we would like to introduce some innovations such as the Day with the National Park of Šumava.
